Hello Visitors to Adventures in Science,
My name is Eboni DuBose. This is a blog that was created while I taught sixth grade science at Cedar Creek Middle School. In addition to teaching science for 5 years, I was also on the Franklin County Pacing Guide comittee for 3 years. In this role, our goal was to emphasize curriculum guidance instead of prescriptive pacing. Our ultmitate takes was to focus on central ideas and provide links to exemplary curriculum materials, lessons, and instructional strategies, and incorporate 21st century skills.
Here is an example of the FCS 6th grade science pacing guide
I will be going back to graduate school to get my Masters in Instructional Technology. Though I am no long a teacher, I will be applying both my technical background as a chemical engineer and skills gained in the classroom as a middle school science educator to a career in Instructional design. Though I won’t be helping students with AWESOME science experiments. I will be creating learning experiences for adults, thereby improving employees’ skills, knowledge, and job performance and using cool TECHNOLOGY along the way.
My husband, Franklin, and I are college sweethearts (Morehouse College and Georgia Tech, respectively) and got married in August 2005 after six years of dating. You might have guessed it but we are originally from Georgia. We are about to be transplants to Aiken, SC due to my husband’s new job as a nuclear physicist. The love of our ife is our daughter, Jacquelyn Rahne DuBose. She is not only smart, beautiful, and outgoing but she is also a true SCIENTIST for she just loves to explore the world!! We don’t have any pets but I do enjoy OTHER people pets (smiles) and National Geographic and Animal Planet are watched heavily in our household.
Some of my favorite things to do include being a great mom to my daughter and a good wife to my husband, reading science fiction books, watching science fiction, drama, and love movies (yep, I am sappy and will cry during a movie), and going on family vacations (my favorite places are going to science museums, zoos, the beach, and hiking). Eventually our goal is to buy an RV and spend our summers going across country. I have recently tapped into my artistic side with the birth of my daughter because I now enjoy scrapbooking and fingerpainting with her. I do not have a “green thumb” but I do enjoy the beauty of plants and love having plants. Thank you for visiting

Mrs. Dubose,
I am an 8th grade earth science teacher in Selbyville, DE. I am currently enrolled in a Master’s Degree program entitled: Applied Technolgy in the Classroom. I am not a native to computers, but am a willing and active learner. I stumbled across your website while doing a class assignment. I am very impressed with your website. Your kids are lucky. I had to create my own, so I am aware of the workload. You also have a similar history as me. I too married my sweatheart of 6 years in 2005 (Sept) and we, too, have a baby girl (17 months). I am in my 5th year taeching and really enjoying the experience. I just wanted to say that I appreciate your work and love your website. You seem very enthusiastic. Have a great year.

Hi Colin
It (the website) does take alot of work in the beginning to get the website set up (I built most of it in the summer). I did a lot of website hunting and took bits and pieces from other websites. As they say work harder not smarter and beg, borrow, steal. I love wordpress for its interactivity that it offers my class. Thanks so much for dropping by and if you need to “steal” anything go right ahead!!

Hey Mrs. Dubose! I totally agree with your favorite quote. You should always be a leader/example towards others instead of followers. Thanks for all you taught me this past year! Your the best science teacher i’ve had! I really appreciate it!
